Shri Rajarajeswarar temple at Kadakadappai

This is a Shiva temple located at Kadakadappai and is one of the 7 Sapta sthanam Shiva temples of Tanjavur. This is on the bank of river Vennar near Tanjavur on the outskirts of the city. The temple belongs to the Chola period. It’s a very small temple which is at the end of Agraharam of Kadakadappai village. The temple is in complete ruins and there is no one to take care of it or give any information. Neither the people nor the govt of TN, seems to care about this Heritage temple. (This was a report from a visitor on May 2020). It seems the bypass road from Tanjavur is almost at the entrance of the temple. There is a stone inscription which says that the Kudamuzhukku (i.e. Kumbhabhishek) was done on 2nd Sept 1990.

Address: Shri Rajarajeshwarar temple, Kadakadappai, District Tanjore, TN
