Saptasthana Shiva temples of Karanthattangudu in Tanjore district

Around Karanthattangudu in Tanjore district of Tamil Nadu, there are 7 Shiva temples which are collectively known as Sapta Sthana Shiva temples of Karanthattangudu. They are namely 

1) Shri Vasisteshwarar temple at Karanthai, 

2) Shri Tanjapooreeshwarar temple at Vennatrankarai, 

3) Shri Vasisteshwarar temple at Thittai,

4) Shri Chokkanathar temple at Kudalur on Vennar bank Tanjore, 

5) Shri Rajarajeswarar temple at Kadakappai, 

6) Shri Kailashnathar temple at Mariamman kovil at Punnainallur in Tanjore

7) Shri Vaidyanatheshwarar temple at Poomalai Tanjore. 

Except temples # 2 and 5, all other temples also belong to the group of temples known as Tanjavur Palace Devasthanam. There are 88 temples in this group.
