Shri Kailasnathar Temple at Melakaveri

This temple is one of the seven saptathana temples associated with Kumbhakonam. It is situated at Melakaveri in Kumbhakonam Taluka in Tamil Nadu on the Northern bank of river Kaveri. The temple is facing the east and has a three tiered Rajagopuram.

When we enter through the main entrance we come across Nandi and Bali peeth in a mandap. Two Dwarapalakas guard the main sanctum. 

Koshta murtis: Shri Dakshinamurti, Shri Bhairav, Shri Durga Devi

Devi is housed in a separate shrine which is facing south. Her shrine is guarded at the entrance by the Dwarapalakas Jaya and Vijaya. Her shrine is to the left of the main shrine of Shri Shiva. In the corridor we come across Shri Siddhivinayaka, Shri Dandapani, Shri Shaiva Saint Sambandhar, Shri Chandra, Shri Kalabhairav, Shri Shanishwarar, Shri Surya, Shri Subramanya with his consorts Shri Valli and Shri Deivayani, Shri Sundareshwarar with Shri Meenakshi Devi, Shri Chandikeshwarar, Navagrahas and finally Shri Kashi Vishwanath along with Shri Vishalakshi Devi.
